Luminary homepage: where ideas illuminate the world

01Overview

Luminary publishes in-depth tutorials, analysis and practical guides on artificial intelligence, web development and emerging technology. Rather than a hosted blogging tool, it runs on a publishing platform we built — so writing, editing, scheduling, newsletters and revenue are all in one place.

02Challenge

An independent publication needs the tools of a newsroom without a newsroom’s budget: a comfortable editor, a review and scheduling workflow, an audience it owns through email, a way to earn from its content, and safeguards against publishing unoriginal work.

03Strategy

Own the whole stack. The platform covers the full life of an article — draft, review, schedule, publish, distribute and measure — and is built for search and AI answer engines from day one, with structured data, an RSS feed and an llms.txt summary.

04UX

Readers get fast, distraction-free articles with categories, author pages, search and a newsletter. Contributors can apply through a “write for us” flow. A clear cookie-consent choice is remembered across visits.

05UI

A dark, editorial interface with a single violet accent, strong headline typography and article layouts tuned for long-form reading on any screen.

06Engineering

Next.js with Neon Postgres through Drizzle ORM and Auth.js for accounts. The admin covers posts, categories, comments, media, subscribers, users, analytics, newsletters and monetisation settings. A Tiptap-based editor handles rich content, scheduled posts are published by a daily cron job, Resend sends newsletters, and a Gemini-powered checker helps editors review originality before publishing.

07Accessibility

Semantic article structure, readable line lengths and contrast, keyboard-operable navigation and descriptive links throughout the reading experience.
